Jeane Plastino-Wood, LMT, CMMT, Director of Education
Jeane founded North Idaho Massage Academy in 2015. She also founded Highlands Day Spa of Post Falls in 2003 and Highlands Day Spa of Sandpoint in 2015. She currently owns all 3 businesses. She has worked as a massage therapist since 1993 and has a passion for trauma and recovery work. Jeane also founded the American Institute of Clinical Massage (AiCM) in 1995, and sold the business in 2012. She has served on the Idaho Massage legislative board that was instrumental in licensing massage therapy in Idaho. She has also served as an investigator for the National Board of Massage Standards and Ethics Committee. Due to arthritis, Jeane can no longer provide massage services, however she continues to manage the spa and consult with other spas and teach at NIMA. Her desire for clients is to provide them with the most relaxing, rejuvenating, soothing experience possible, and her desire for students is to help them attain the skills and knowledge to have and maintain a thriving practice.
Susan L. McClellan LMT, Instructor
Susan is a licensed massage therapist and a 2010 graduate of the American Institute of Clinical Massage. She was an assistant teacher along-side Jeane Plastino-Wood, the founder and former owner of the American Institute for Clinical Massage (AiCM). Susan has worked at the Highlands Day Spa since 2010, and is passionate about therapists knowing and being able to effectively use the tools and skills acquired in the industry of massage. She is employed there as the lead therapist and works with training and evaluating new therapists.
Susan (Susie as she prefers) trained as a CNA at a local hospital at at age18. Later she spent 2 years teaching all 8 grades at a private elementary school. She then went on to marry and have four children, while living in North Idaho. It was after her fourth child that Susie pursued an education in the field of Massage Therapy. There, she once again fell in love with the study of the human body and the amazing preventative and therapeutic benefits of massage.
Her career was further enhanced while assistant teaching with Jeane, and sharing her passion for the industry with future massage therapists. With these skills and working beside seasoned and skilled massage therapists, Susie is excited to continue her career by providing an opportunity for others to join the industry.
Dr. Hans Steidl, Faculty
Hans grew up in in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended high school on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Hans then attended Oregon State University and received an undergraduate degree in Fisheries Biology. Working in the Fisheries field was his first career. This involved stints working at sea in Alaska and off the pacific coast as a scientist and once as a commercial fisherman. After meeting his beautiful wife Jessy who grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, he was introduced to the beautiful Inland Empire. With the desire to start a family, be home more and pursue a health related career, he found chiropractic. He attended University of Western States in Portland, Oregon and received his Doctor of Chiropractic. After graduation they decided the best place to raise their kids was North Idaho. He loves the strong sense of community here and all the outdoor recreational activities. Aside from his interest in natural health therapies and wellbeing, his hobbies include live music, skiing, travel, ethnic foods, power sports, hiking, hunting and fishing.
Jennifer Molina, Faculty
Jennifer Molina, LMT has been practicing massage since 2009 and graduated from American Institute of Clinical Massage, in Post Falls, Idaho.
She is passionate about the many benefits of massage and finds it a privilege to be an integral part of her clients health and wellness.
She continually pursues education to deepen and broaden her abilities so that she may pair the many modalities she is trained in, to the specific needs of her clients; Sweedish, deep tissue and trigger point also in sports, pregnancy and La Stone therapy.
She feels honored in caring for each individual and their needs, within her care.
Krystle Shapiro, Faculty
Krystle graduated from the University of Redlands in 1968 with a BA in English Literature. In December 2002 she graduated from the American institute of Clinical Massage as a Licensed Massage Therapist. She opened her practice Touchstone Massage Therapies in 2003 providing specialties in Lymphatic Drainage, Positional Release Therapies, Geriatric and Oncology massage therapies along with relaxation, sports injury, Reiki, and Integrated Energy Therapies.
In 2012 Krystle earned her Master’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition and provides nutrition education classes through her business NewTritionally Yours!
She especially enjoys teaching and helping people be or become their optimal best every day.
